Annual F.A.S.T.
Speed Meet, Saturday,
September 12, 2009, Worth County Fairgrounds, Northwoods,
Iowa. 4 miles south of the Iowa-Minnesota state line, 7
miles east of I-35
Many thanks to the So Cal F.A.S.T. guys and gals who set this up, I don’t know how they got the keys to the gate, but I’m glad they did. Here are some pics, you all know who you are. As usual Jim Brierley, the master of the hole shot was faster than the camera. Awesome turn out, lots of cool cars. Seems the Model T’s have the coolest wheels. We really enjoyed the Model T’s and hope
to see more of you guys at future events. On a somber note Floyd Hughes passed away from a heart attack during the event. We will miss you Floyd.

At
the other end of the spectrum is Fred Lobello, whom resides in San Diego.
He is 83 now, and back working on a Lakester to run Bonneville this
year. Lots to do, with the new engine, Dreyer, and a 48 ford tranny,
all being put into a new frame. For the rear to accommodate all of the
changes, the car will have to be 18" longer.
October 7, 1945 was Fred’s first run at El Mirage, a 32 Ford Roadster,
Engine was a four cylinder with a Winfield head. Best time with the
Winfield, was 96.35 mph. The following year, with a Cragar, top time
of 101.01 mph. Last September Fred was inducted into the DLR of F (
Dry Lakes Racing Hall of Fame ). Good Luck !!! We are looking forward
to future updates from Fred and will keep you all posted. Please
